What is The Annual Tehillimthon ?

It is a very powerful one day project  which was started in the spring of 5764 (2004).  Each year on the holiday of Shavuos, individuals from around the world join together for The Annual Tehillimthon. (Shavuos falls every year on the 6th of Sivan.  This year 6 Sivan begins at sunset, Sunday evening, June 8th and ends after dark, Monday evening, June 9th.  Outside of Israel, the holiday is celebrated over 2 days - beginning Sunday evening, June 8th and ends Tuesday evening, June 10th.)

We encourage people to sponsor the recitation of chapters of Tehillim (Psalms), and the funds raised are donated to charity projects.  In addition, sponsors are requested to submit a list of individuals they would like included in the prayers recited before and after the Tehillim.

 Why Shavuos?

Shavuos is the day the Jewish People celebrate the gift of receiving the Holy Torah at Mount Sinai. King David requested from God that the recitation of Tehillim be considered equal to learning Torah.  Therefore, reciting Tehillim has a special significance on this day.

   Why Tehillim?

King David authored and compiled the Book of Tehillim (The Book of Psalms). His legacy has offered solace to untold numbers of people for thousands of years. Since according to tradition, King David was born on Shavuos and passed away 70 years later on the same day, it is customary to recite Tehillim on this holiday in his memory.  To learn more about King David's Legacy click here

Through this project, individuals around the globe join together, each in his or her capacity and according to choices he or she makes...different tasks, different people, different strengths - each giving and receiving-in order to create a unified group.  We join as one.

We invite you to join that ONE.
