OUR STORY
It began in a friend's home...
Four years ago, a group of friends attending a women's Shabbos (Sabbath) study group began discussing ideas to raise money for young couples who, due to insufficient funds, were unable to set up their homes after marrying. One woman suggested a 'Tehillimthon' during the holiday of Shavuos (which was to begin the following evening). She explained we could ask people to sponsor chapters of Tehillim we would read during the holiday. The more Tehillim we would recite, the more money we would make....
We had less than 24 hours to get organized!
That year we had 5 sponsors, read 6 Sifrei Tehillim (Books of Psalms) and had a small list of people to pray for. Each year the project has grown. Last year, we doubled the donations received the previous year and we had pages and pages of names of people to pray for.
Encouraged by past successes and certain that it is God's will for us to unite through Tehillim and acts of kindness, we have decided to go on-line this year with our project and with God's help, make it even BIGGER and even MORE SUCCESSFUL!
